Ecotricity holds the Toitū Envirocare climate-positive certification for both its products and organisation. This achievement underscores its unwavering commitment to sustainability and its role in shaping a greener future. Ecotricity exclusively purchases electricity from 100% renewable sources—wind, hydro, and solar—ensuring its energy mix is free from fossil fuels. By doing so, Ecotricity is not just reducing its carbon footprint but actively contributing to the phase-out of fossil fuels in New Zealand.

What is Climate Positive

Being Toitū climate-positive certified means having a positive impact on the climate. Ecotricity measures the emissions associated with its full value chain, sets science-based reduction plans for the short and long term, and goes beyond net carbon zero by compensating at 125%, as well as contributing to additional environmental and social projects.

How can Ecotricity's climate-positive energy support businesses?

Ecotricity's Toitū climate-positive certification has been certified against the ISO14067 standard. This meets (and exceeds) the Scope 2 quality criteria for the market-based reporting method. This means that for businesses that measure their carbon emissions, Ecotricity's climate-positive certified electricity can completely pre-offset all greenhouse gas emissions related to their electricity consumption.

Within clothing and textiles businesses, energy usage accounts for a significant portion of
total GHG emissions. Therefore, by choosing an energy retailer like Ecotricity, those
emissions can be removed from your GHG Inventory, to show a meaningful emissions
reduction.
