Mindful Fashion AGM 2022

The Mindful Fashion team along with members from across the fashion and textiles industry and our partners gathered together online recently for our AGM, held on the 27th of April 2022.

More than 40 industry stakeholders joined the online event; current members as well as partners and supporting organisations and representatives from educational institutes including Massey University and Otago Polytechnic, and crown research agency AgResearch.

Together we reflected on the past year, celebrated our achievements, mapped out our plans for 2022, and met the newly elected Board members.

Chair of Mindful Fashion, James Walker announced an exciting new partnership with Whakatupu Aotearoa and thanked all our partners for their support, and provided an overview of our achievements in the last year as we work to create an innovative, full-circle and thriving future for the industry in NZ.

Jacinta FitzGerald, Programme Director of Mindful Fashion, reinforced the importance of our mission and the organisation’s objectives, and talked about the soon to launch Mindful Fashion Climate Action Initiative.

A highlight of the evening was Keynote speaker Kate Hall. Kate spoke gave us a recap of Fashion Revolution Week, shared insights on consumer mindsets - especially as we move through this challenging period coming out from the global Covid pandemic. Some highlights from her talk included the importance of considering sustainability beyond the point of purchase, and that we can't leave anyone behind.

Our co-founders Kate Sylvester and Emily Miller Sharma then introduced the newly elected Board members. Welcome to Juliette Hogan, Dan Ahwa and Louina Fifita!
