2024 Award Winner: UNTOUCHED WORLD

Rubbish Socks

Winner: Circular Business Innovation Award presented by Trade Me.

Rubbish Socks embodies the pillars of circularity: working with renewable fibres, minimising waste, and keeping materials in circulation at high value through recycling to produce a new material and desirable product that truly celebrates the unique beauty of recycled yarn.

Rubbish socks are made from waste from the production process. The knit waste is shredded back down, blended with 50% virgin merino fibre and given a second life in the form of a new yarn. The recycling process is completely water and dye-free. This results in a unique batch of recycled yarn each time.

  • In the last year Untouched World has diverted more than 1 tonne of textile waste which it has recycled through various streams, including to its Rubbish Socks.
  • Untouched World now diverts 99% of all its textile waste into circular programs.
