Travelling Sewing Box Project
Brainchild of Victoria Martinez Azaro, the Travelling Sewing Box project has the objective to give immigrant women a voice and a sense of participation within society by giving them a space to stitch with other women in a safe and supportive environment.
The project aims to empower and integrate migrant and refugee women into NZ society through textile crafts and repurposed fabric waste by creating opportunities for them to become self sufficient, have better lives and overcome trauma.
For the last 3 years Victoria has been working with NGOs and government agencies such as RAS, ALAC, Selwyn Refugee Centre, and Tamkin Project, by using repurposed fabric waste from the local nz industry. Victoria is looking for offcuts and unwanted ends of fabric that could be repurposed. For more information contact Victoria email@example.com
